Chargie: The Home EV Charging Point Booking Service

Chargie: The Home EV Charging Point Booking Service

Businesses and homeowners are becoming more and more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, lowering their carbon footprint and helping the country to lower its energy consumption.

With electric vehicles (EV) on the rise but not enough public charging points being installed around the UK, a couple from Maidenhead have come up with the perfect solution to recharge EV, especially when travelling long distances.

Like private accommodation rental, homeowners will be able to rent out their EV charge points through an advance booking service called Chargie.

In a similar way to renting out a home on Airbnb, from May 16th EV owners will be able to book and rent an EV charging point. The service is currently a web based site, but are currently working on an app which is to be launched in the next 3-4 months.

The typical cost of a full recharge (based on current electricity prices) for a homeowner is between £2-£4. Chargie will charge a 10% service fee on top of the recharge cost for registered EV charge point owners, and 20% for those who are not registered.

The official launch of Chargie is May 16th, but domestic charge point owners are able to register with the service already.
